Travel has been inside me for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I would sit on the front step of my grandmother’s house and play looking for shapes in the chipping of the worn stone… I always saw the map of the world. A world I promised to travel.
That passion for travel and my deep love for animals took me to Africa, the home of wildlife, of ancestral tribes, of myths and legends…and soon I would discover that it was also mine.
Africa opened its doors to me through Kenya and after that first trip, a little piece of my heart stayed in that magical land forever. And I came back, again and again, traveling through Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Africa, Zambia, Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon…and Kenya again, where I had left that little piece of my heart and where I return every time to feel complete.
And from my need to show the beauty of these wild creatures and the powerful and fragile home they inhabit, my third passion, photography, was born.
Africa is the backdrop for most of my photos, the perfect setting to show the untamed beauty of our natural world that we must protect tooth and nail, for it is OUR home, the home of us all, for we are ALL one.
Through my travels and my images I try to convey the deep connection that exists between us humans and our neighbors on the planet, the animals. What we do to them, we do to ourselves.
The effort to preserve this beauty is worth it, without a doubt, because to return is always to return home.
